To graphically depict the current ecological state of the San Juan Islands, honor current models and solutions, and promote greater environmental awareness.

The San Juan Islands are each home to unique culturally creative communities of Islanders. Found in the Islands are an abundance of solutions to current environmental issues facing the communities around the planet. The Green Map Project highlights the strength of our developing local food system, while referencing the measurable dependence on the "outside" food system of the larger United States. The Orcas Island Green map graphically represents the flow of energy, in terms of food, building materials, money, fuel, etc..., into the Island and out.
