Declaración de Intención

Pursue Balance began taking shape in the mind of Kit DesLauriers in the fall of 2006, while she was on a trek to Everest Base Camp. Even as she was about to complete the goal of becoming the first person to ski all Seven Summits, Kit was already looking to the future for new inspiration. The Seven Summits journey had taught Kit how integral individual growth and environmental awareness was to leading a balanced life, and she wanted to nurture those value in the world around her. Less than a year later Pursue Balance was launched as a non-profit dedicated to providing leadership for personal transformation and environmental stewardship.
The environmental stewardship arm of Pursue Balance includes the following programs:
Teton Area 10x10– a community initiative that asks residents and businesses participate in a
energy reduction program. The goal is to reduce 10% of participant’s energy use 10% by 2010. The Teton Area 10x10, with funding from a 1% for the Tetons Grant, enables participants to use an online toolkit to begin tracking reductions as well as hosts community events for education and outreach.

Cookies for Climate Change- local youth Willie Neal leads this environmental awareness program dedicated to educating and empowering youth. Willie is currently working with local businesses to provide the We Can Be Idle Free signs to remind drivers to save on gas and contribute to
environmental stewardship.

Zero JH- the Zero JH Green Tag Program sells Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) to individuals and businesses to help them offset their greenhouse gas emissions. Green Tag sales directly fund the Solar for Schools Program which provides demonstration photovoltaic (Solar) panels for our community's schools. The first installation from the Solar for Schools Program will be complete in September 2008 at the Teton Science Schools.

Our vision is to bring organizations, businesses, and individuals together around environmental stewardship to create a stronger community and have a greater impact.
