Declaración de Intención

Let CAPMAP be your guide on a Journey of Discovery! Our multi-faceted project maps the City of Edmonton and the City of St. Albert, the Counties of Leduc, Parkland, Strathcona and Sturgeon and also Elk Island National Park. The area has a population of about 1 million. We have mapped numerous cultural, recreational, sustainable and environmental features in our area. We have also assembled and georeferenced many Historical Maps dating back to David Thompson and the 1790s. Also included are 131 Dominion Land Survey Maps surveyed in the 1880s to the 1910s. The website visitor can see land use and hydrological changes that have occurred over time in our area.

The informative and entertaining Image Gallery features many of our mapped sites. You can take a virtual tour of regional museums, festivals, vistas and cutting edge Technology and Renewable Resource sites from anywhere on the planet. Click on Timelines to learn about Aboriginal and Pioneer histories in the area from 10,000 B.C. to 1948. Interesting vignettes of world, Canadian and regional history are also included to provide a different perspective on history. On the Aboriginal page you can currently read interviews about the life and times of historically important Métis leaders.

We hope visitors to the site find it entertaining and informative as we continue to build it in the coming years. As a non-profit we have numerous supporters and partners as listed under Acknowledgments on the website.
