Malama Kaua'i is creating a Green Map to educate locals and visitors on how they can participate in making our island more sustainable. There is a lack of easily accessible information for people who wish to spend their dollars in a conscious way that supports Kauai's economy, environment, and culture. As a small island with over 1.3 million visitors each year, the impacts of the tourism industry are vast. We hope that by educating our visitors, we can begin to "green" the industry.

It is also our hope that a Green Map will begin the process of networking businesses that are interested in making sustainable choices. We will offer recommendations, resources, and support to willing businesses. Publicizing the numerous benefits of sustainable innovation will encourage businesses to join our network.
