Parati is a UNESCO designated fishing village located in the Brazilian Atlantic Rainforest. The architecture of this village is a well preserved example of the colonial Portuguese period. Parati is a very popular tourist destination because of its historic qualities, excellent restaurants and pousadas, and access to many pristine islands off its coast.

Our mission is the help this community sustain its beauty, uniqueness, and authenticity by mapping ecology, sustainable businesses, and cultural heritage. These places demonstrate practices that support the environmental, social, cultural, and economic viability of the community. Parati Green Map is an ongoing, collaborative project between the people of Parati, Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil and international university students and educators.

We have surveyed the community and we are developing an interactive, internet-based map.
