Mariposa County is one of the original California Gold Rush counties, home to Yosemite National Park, and ancestral land of the Southern Sierra Miwok.

Better Together Mariposa exist to promote the idea of a Sustainable Community and to consciously take the "long view" of our future. "Sustainable communities" are here defined as those communities whose growth and development preserve our natural and social heritage while meeting present needs in a way that does not compromise our ability to meet future needs.

Our Green Map will focuses on:
1. Cultivating a deepening appreciate and reverence of our rich natural and social heritage.
2. Promoting awareness of activities in and about Mariposa that further the sustainable ideal.
3. Developing strategy that both promoting opportunities, preserves our heritage and look to the long term health and wellbeing of the community.
