The intention of this open green map is to provide a comprehensive view of the many green assets that exist in and around the Capital Region of New York. We hope this map will become a living canvas that continues to grow with site suggestions from the public, and inspires area schools, businesses, and governments to contribute towards the creation of specialized green theme maps.

Repertory Dance Theatre is launching an arts-'place' discovery fusion, empowering the community of Salt Lake County (population >1.2 million, encompassing 800 sq.mi. and 16 cities, including the state capital, Salt Lake City) to 'see' and to celebrate its place through performing, visual, literary and other arts, bringing to life the Green Map icons. Over the next two years, RDT will enlist public, charter and private schools, as well as institutions of higher learning and community groups to explore neighborhoods, cities, ecosystems, urban farms, centers of government, places of religious and cultural significance, and the many historical markers that make up the worldview of Salt Lake County's diverse peoples. Together, we will produce not only Green Maps at all scales through the Open Green Map, but also community performances and celebratory events to enliven and imprint in community participants the importance of places large and small, environments healthy and challenged, natural creatures secure and threatened, and people of every persuasion and socioeconomic level. Together, we will discover the attributes that make our great valley so rich in quality of life, and the trends that may change that quality over future decades if sound choices are not made in our day-to-day lives. We are resolved that this Green Map of Salt Lake County will be both mirror and compass as we enter deeply into the 21st Century.

This Green map is born from the merger of two actions of Agenda 21: to raise awareness of the natural areas of the town and to make a sustainable mobility guidebook. This Green map is the result of a participative process between the association FRAPNA Haute-Savoie, the city municipal services, and the inhabitants involved in the Town Council Consultation Committee

Saint Mary's University Blue Map

This map was done by Ashley Shelton, an Undergrad Saint Mary's University Student. who dedicated her tim to putting together a map that showcased the different hydrostations and water fountains on the Saint Mary's University Campus. The map was designed to foster and encourage student , faculty and staff towards drinking more tap water, and less bottled water, hence promoting conservation of water. The map was highlighted and put on display as part of the events of the University's annual Sustainability Week in March 2010.

The Service for Social Action Center (SSAC) coordinates service and course-based service-learning activities for members of our campus community. You will have the opportunity to truly become "men and women for others" through the partnerships of our student clubs, service programs, and academic courses with organizations in Wheeling, Appalachia and across the country. Throughout the year, the SSAC, in partnership with Campus Ministry work to identify service projects, track participation, and provide support with spiritual reflection and skill development. The center provides these for students, clubs, residence halls, sport teams and programs including the Arrupe Scholars, the Mother Jones House, and First Year Seminar. The SSAC will also offer training and assistance for faculty who want to incorporate a service-learning component in their courses, applying the skills and theories learned in the classroom to "real world" projects.
