From GMS: In Tororo, Uganda, East Africa, a dozen adults and children completed a single hand-colored, large scale Green Map with over 100 sites in July 1999. It was the very first one finished in Africa! It was created under the leadership of Odulla Joseph, an educator, environmentalist and leader of the project at Liberty Christian Center. It was also one of the first Green Maps accomplished without a computer, and used Green Map Icons stickers to highlight the sites.
Publication of this map was done with five color copies, trimmed and joined together. About 10 copies were made for exhibit purposes, and this map has delighted viewers around the world. Currently, the youth in Tororo are working to build a fish farm. They plan to create a new edition with some of the profits from the farm.

The Mapmakers are building a fish farm and seek help for it. It will provide locally-grown food, jobs, and ecologicial management skills. Income will help support the next edition of this Green Map.
